Netela Cotton Shawl

new From Africa, the fashion hub of today, comes this lovely shawl or scarf with tibeb in 2 color choices. This is a traditional Ethiopian shawl with a body of two panels of natural cotton, sewn together and a tibeb or border of intricate woven pattern. Some slubs are to be expected. A style still worn by women in Ethiopia today, this is a fabulous gauzy cotton and the tibeb gives it weight and body. These are a Fair Trade product, hand made in Africa and imported through Creative Women.

Size is about 40 inches by 80 inches and because it it so light weight it can be worn as a shawl or a scarf, over the head or round the waist. Hand wash and partially dry flat, then twist while damp to create the pleats. This will make a versatile garment worn casually or elegantly. You simply add your own style and off you go. The hardest decision is which pattern to go with. The moss gold is subdued and refined while the navy makes a bold African statement. Both are easy to pack and best twisted into shape. Flowing and romantic in sheer natural colored cotton.
